Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money

图片
Had an interesting catch up with a friend. He asked me what is my key points when sharing about Bitcoin, I told him: There is a very thin fine line between investing, speculating, and gambling. For anything money-related here, be it to invest, to speculate, or to gamble, do not use your: Survival money - money you use for daily survival (specifically food and necessities for a living). Reserved money - your safety net to get by at least 3 to 9 months should any accidental incident or scenarios happen. Borrowed-money - debt is a double-edged sword. Never ever be over-optimism and use borrowed-money for investing, speculation and gambling. Big no no. And to date, the best content I have when it comes to Blockchain, Bitcoin, and Money related content, I would still be referring to my very early days documents, shared below: Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money by Koh How Tze (Presentation File) blockchain-bitcoin-money from Koh How Tze Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money by Koh How Tze (Transcript) mblbc-ov...

Blockchain and Altcoin Projects (Ripple, Cardano, Solana)

Blockchain. Bitcoin. Money. People. Process. Technology. To explore Blockchain,  we need to study Bitcoin,  because Bitcoin is the first, proven Blockchain.  To understand Bitcoin,  we need to know what is money  and how it works.  People-centric, lean process  with technology as the enabler. Trust. Circulation. Legal.

图片
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that Telegram and the forthcoming GRM token constitute an unregistered digital token offering. While Telegram has the trust from a huge user base and potential circulation economic scale, still, it bumps into that legal barrier, for now. And the key thing is  unregistered. “Is this going to be more of a legislative move or an SEC move? [...] At the moment I don’t know.” ~ SEC Commissioner Robert J. Jackson Jr. The world will sort things out as we progress. Meanwhile in Malaysia, as regulatory provisions evolve, there are some noteworthy domestic experiments and pilot projects on the implementation of blockchain technologies within the wider economy: 1) Securities Commission’s Project Castor for unlisted and over-the-counter markets, 2) Bank Negara Malaysia‘s blockchain-powered trade finance applications together with nine banking partners, 3) the Ministry of Education's initiative to use block...

The Power of Social Media

Tokenizing Real Estate - Solving The Illiquidity Discount Problem?

Blockchains seek to construct more sophisticated monetary policies. While REITs are just one of many types of investment vehicles, and there is an entire galaxy of real estate ventures and investment funds looking to take advantage of distributed ledger technology, in my opinion, specifically nonlisted and private REITs may stand to reap the greatest benefits of tokenization. What does tokenization potentially mean for the real estate sector? Solving the illiquidity discount problem. Firstly, through the utilization of blockchain technology, conventional and highly regulated real estate investment vehicles (like REITs) can operate at unprecedented levels of efficiency by making programmable governance and built-in regulatory compliance possible on the platform and/or the security token levels, as well as by automating cap table and investor management processes. This will, at least in theory, lower management expenses and increase the profits that get returned to investors. ...

Japan to Solarize Its Digital Economy

图片
Use Cases of Blockchain technology in Energy Sector - Solar Power “In the solar energy sector, decentralized blockchain technology is used in person-to-person (P2P) energy trading, labeling, energy provenance and certification, smart metering and billing, electric vehicle charging and payments, and wholesale power trading and settlements.” Reports published by Fitch Solutions Macro Research and Globadata conclude that over the next decade, decentralized solar technology may replace PV solar farms as the main growth-driver in Japan. Already, a blockchain-enabled solar energy-trading pilot project is set to link 100 solar rooftops of smart, zero-energy homes in the country, while another pilot project will administer an energy-trading marketplace using blockchain to connect a number of Japanese power production facilities with homes, offices, factories, batteries and electric vehicles. Toyota Motor Corp. — which began testing high-efficiency solar cells for electric cars — has join...

Virgin Bitcoin

Traceability The Bitcoin blockchain serves as a decentralized ledger that allows anyone to follow the transaction history of a particular token with the touch of a button. For example, each Bitcoin carries with it a cryptographically provable history that contains a detailed record of ownership and transaction data associated with the token. Simply put, if a particular Bitcoin has been used to process even a single illegal activity in the past, all of its subsequent transactions will be tainted. This, according to Dave Jevans (CEO of CipherTrace), is one of the main reasons why certain cyber-savvy criminals go to such great lengths to launder their cryptocurrencies before putting them to use.  #VirginBitcoin Full artcile: https://cointelegraph.com/news/virgin-bitcoin-most-in-demand-crypto-that-is-regulated-differently

AI & Blockchain, ABCD The World

At their core, both technologies are centered around managing and communicating data, though they solve different parts of the puzzle. One of the byproducts of the digital revolution is that we generate massive troves of data from millions of touchpoints every day. #Data AI is designed to quickly collect, analyze and correctly interpret the data, and react to it without any human interaction. Blockchain, on the other hand, is more concerned with the storage and communication of data. Its distributed ledger architecture means that data is stored simultaneously across all nodes connected to the network, and it allows for data to be completely decentralized, making it quicker to access and more democratic. Since every node has access to all the available data, AI becomes less reliant on central storage for processing. #ABCDTheWorld https://cointelegraph.com/explained/blockchain-and-ai-bond-explained

Smart City Vienna - Road to Digitization

The Smart City Vienna strategy takes into consideration multiple fields that need to be transformed, such as energy, mobility, real estate and others. #ChooseYourPlayground Every single aspect of the strategy has well-defined target objectives in order to provide transparency and a sense of urgency. In total, 38 target objectives are set out until 2050, while different milestones are to be met by 2025, 2030 and 2050. #Blueprint Blockchain is a key factor in realizing these goals. As such, it has been applied to different use cases that pertain to the strategy in one way or another. One of them is the notarization of Open Government Data (OGD) — to facilitate the use of food stamps by local government employees. Electric supplier Wien Energie, which is run by the city administration, has also been exploring the use of blockchain technology for quite a while now, trying to make distribution along its grids more efficient. Last but not least, Vienna is setting up a blockcha...

Stablecoins

Stablecoins are a new type of cryptocurrency that have their value pegged to another asset. These coins can be pegged to fiat currencies such as the United States dollar, other cryptocurrencies, precious metals or a combination of the three. designed to tackle the inherent volatility seen in cryptocurrency prices. They are normally collateralized, meaning that the total number of stablecoins in circulation is backed by assets held in reserve. Put simply, if there are 500,000 USD-pegged coins in circulation, there should be at least $500,000 sitting in a bank. In December 2018, Cointelegraph reported claims that four major stablecoins had clocked up $5 billion in on-chain transactions within just three months — enjoying a 1,032% surge in November compared with two months earlier. stablecoins are designed to have a consistent price or value over time - delivering a happy medium between offering the stability of fiat currencies and the decentralized benefits that virtual currencies pr...

37coins was a bitcoin wallet provider headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. How Tze's Profile

图片
After handling a few book editing and publishing projects, I think it is time for me to come out with my own book. First step, to update my personal profile. Koh How Tze Koh How Tze , an entrepreneur with a Degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Computer) from UTM, Skudai, Malaysia, had been serving clients from retail and servicing industry since the dinosaur age of the internet. He started his career as a programmer working on Web Based Retail Management System, during an era where people are still using dial-up connections with 56k modem (the fastest that time) to go “online”. He witnesses how the ICT industry and the internet grew from DOS based system to the modern days’ mobile system, to what it is today. Serving clients from start-ups to MNC throughout his 20 years career path (since 1997), he understands clearly the in and outs of web-based systems, which he advises, consults and integrates for many of his clients. One of the most successful implementation was a retail chain ...
