Money is the Ultimate Truth Serum: Why Your Business Needs the Asset-Light Revolution

图片
Stop looking at money as "paper." 💸 Start looking at it for what it truly is: The ultimate mechanism of trust. Before Bitcoin, money was the only way humanity could measure who to trust at scale. But here is the secret they don't teach in business school: Money is a tool of revelation. It strips away the masks. It reveals who someone is when the stakes are high. As Scott D. Clary says: "Your values only become real when they cost you something. The test comes when standing for something means losing something." This is the foundation of the Talent Syndrome : High-tier talent moves to where they feel valued. Compensation is the loudest signal of that value. Money reveals priorities. Where money speaks, credibility follows. 🚩 If the pay doesn't match the praise, the praise is a lie.  🚩 If the budget doesn't match the "priority," it’s not a priority. In the old world, companies hid behind heavy assets—buildings, machinery, and massive overhea...

Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money

图片
Had an interesting catch up with a friend. He asked me what is my key points when sharing about Bitcoin, I told him: There is a very thin fine line between investing, speculating, and gambling. For anything money-related here, be it to invest, to speculate, or to gamble, do not use your: Survival money - money you use for daily survival (specifically food and necessities for a living). Reserved money - your safety net to get by at least 3 to 9 months should any accidental incident or scenarios happen. Borrowed-money - debt is a double-edged sword. Never ever be over-optimism and use borrowed-money for investing, speculation and gambling. Big no no. And to date, the best content I have when it comes to Blockchain, Bitcoin, and Money related content, I would still be referring to my very early days documents, shared below: Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money by Koh How Tze (Presentation File) blockchain-bitcoin-money from Koh How Tze Blockchain, Bitcoin, Money by Koh How Tze (Transcript) mblbc-ov...

The Invention of Money

Anyone forging it would be punished with death. That point was deeply relevant. The problem with many new forms of money is that people are reluctant to adopt them. Genghis Khan’s grandson didn’t have that difficulty. He took measures to insure the authenticity of his currency, and if you didn’t use it—if you wouldn’t accept it in payment, or preferred to use gold or silver or copper or iron bars or pearls or salt or coins or any of the older forms of payment prevalent in China—he would have you killed. This solved the question of uptake. The instruments of trade and finance are inventions, in the same way that creations of art and discoveries of science are inventions—products of the human imagination. Paper money, backed by the authority of the state, was an astonishing innovation, one that reshaped the world. It’s only at moments when the system buckles that we start to wonder why these things are worth what they seem to be worth. Bitcoin, a new form of money based on no...

Sukuk and Bond

Two interesting yet somehow related news: 1. Innovative sukuk offering - The global offering - the first to be structured on wakala principles - has set many milestones 2. Greek bailout Mark II - it's a default It's about the whole "Euro-PIIGS" crisis (that's Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain, for those you who were on vacation for the past 18-months or so), and note the difference in "interest rate" for the "borrowings" below: On one hand, The sukuk, which was assigned a credit rating of A- by Standard & Poor’s and A3 by Moody’s, was offered in two tranches with the five-year US$1.2bil (RM3.6bil) paper priced at 2.991%, and the 10-year US$0.8bil (RM2.5bil) at 4.646%. On the other hand, The situation in Italy is serious. At US$262bil, total sovereign claims by international banks on Italy exceeded their combined sovereign exposures to Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain, which totalled US$226bil...the yield o...

Inflation Explained

图片
This is what most people refer to as "inflation." For instance, let's say you have $100,000 in the bank. At 9.6%, which many folks believe to be the real rate of inflation...here's what your money would look like over time: Value of $100,000 After the Effects of 9.6% Inflation per Year Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Year 6 Year 7 Year 8 Year 9 Year 10 $91,241 $83,249 $75,957 $69,304 $63,234 $57,695 $52,641 $48,030 $43,823 $39,985 After a decade of 9.6% inflation, you'd be left with $39,985. A $60,000 loss, just by doing nothing! With inflation, the Government is stealing money from your bank account! But really, the way it works out is that instead of dipping into your bank account and taking money, your money gets stolen in other ways... Food, energy, water... consumer goods... You see, with each new dollar that's created out of thin air being worth less, producers have ...

You've Fallen for the Most Destructive Sleight of Hand of All Time

Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize, just as I did, that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. ~ Morpheus, The Matrix It's no secret that the U.S. dollar — or Federal Reserve Note — is the world's reserve currency. It's been that way since 1944, when the dollar was backed by gold... A time when the United States held more than 50% of the world's gold reserves. A time when the U.S. produced more than 55% of the entire world's manufactured goods. Of course, times have changed... Since 1971, our dollar hasn't been backed by anything other than the fact that it is the world's reserve currency. Today (2011), we only produce 27% of the world's manufactured goods. America also holds less than 25% of the world's gold reserves. And on September 30th, 2011, our national debt will exceed more than 102% of our GDP. The Day After The Dollar Crash

The new normal feels anything but normal. Yet, all around us the rules are changing - about how we make a living, how we care for our loved ones and how we can survive and thrive in these interesting times. In the book The Day After The Dollar Crash, you'll find some of Damon's ideas about how to get on the right side of the New World Order that is on the horizon. You'll find: Where to focus for personal growth Suistainable and socially responsible investments moving forward How to profit from the coming social changes It's not just about a falling dollar , or simply inflation and currency devaluation , but a new world order. Creation of Money without Money

图片
As I believe that everyone should be rich in our country, unlike in Congo where all the diamonds are owned by one person, the purpose of my written experiences is to encourage the young and the old to participate in the art of business, given the will and the motivation. But, it must be remembered that only a small percentage will succeed. ~ Chan Chin Cheung A better strategy to make money and one that an entrepreneur can exercise better control over involves the age-old concept of coming out with a smart idea, support it with passion, focus and relentless hard work. Access your business model critically so that it can withstand the test of time, change of human tastes and/or regulatory regime. Build the business on sound financial and business footing. Embrace the concept that "There is no free lunch in this world" - make sure the business is "productive" i.e. it produces goods or services that are needed by the society, profits will then follow. ~ Daim Zainuddi...

Related Readings : The End of An Empire - The Roman Empire collapsed when it began shaving the edges of gold and silver coins and mixing them with cheap base metals such as copper.

Why Silver will Always Beat Gold

图片
If you’re like most Americans today, you’ve grown tired of hearing words like "inflation", "national debt", and "credit crisis". For years now, it’s been hammered into your brain — the fact that your government has been writing checks it can’t cash, and in the process, diluting every cent you’ve managed to store away in your savings account. And for almost as long, you’ve probably been hearing financial advisors and so-called economic gurus telling you about how certain investments can protect you during these times of uncertainty. Without a doubt, recent historical rises in gold prices have gotten your attention; made you think. Maybe you’ve even started to view the jewelry in your house more as currency than personal possessions. Perhaps you’ve even thought about buying some gold yourself… Turn some of those depreciating dollars into stable wealth by locking in at a good price. Well, let me stop you right there. Although gold is historically the most pro...
