Japan to Solarize Its Digital Economy

图片
Use Cases of Blockchain technology in Energy Sector - Solar Power “In the solar energy sector, decentralized blockchain technology is used in person-to-person (P2P) energy trading, labeling, energy provenance and certification, smart metering and billing, electric vehicle charging and payments, and wholesale power trading and settlements.” Reports published by Fitch Solutions Macro Research and Globadata conclude that over the next decade, decentralized solar technology may replace PV solar farms as the main growth-driver in Japan. Already, a blockchain-enabled solar energy-trading pilot project is set to link 100 solar rooftops of smart, zero-energy homes in the country, while another pilot project will administer an energy-trading marketplace using blockchain to connect a number of Japanese power production facilities with homes, offices, factories, batteries and electric vehicles. Toyota Motor Corp. — which began testing high-efficiency solar cells for electric cars — has join...

Let's hope we see more of these ! http://wewillblowyourmind.blogspot.com/2013/05/who-needs-oil-worlds-largest-solar.html 這條太陽能隧道是可供每年4000輛火車及站體相關號誌、照明及暖氣所需的電力 In June Belgium introduced the first solar train to the world.A public-private consortium consisting of Belgian rail management company Infrabel and solar developer Enfinity has installed 16,000 solar panels on the roof of a 3.4 km (2.1 miles) long tunnel between Antwerp and the Dutch border, creating enough electricity to power 4,000 trains a year.  This includes both conventional and high-speed trains. The 3.3 gigawatts of solar energy each year is used to generate power for the trains and the infrastructure (signalling, lighting, heating of railway stations etc.,).The project is based on an average of 900 hours of sunlight a year.  The total cost of the project is 15.7 m...

Solar Updraft Tower

图片
As the turbines spin, clean renewable energy will flow into the power grid. In short, it's an interesting mix of the best of both solar and wind power; but unlike solar and wind, the mechanical energy created by Davey’s machine allows the unit to operate 24/7. As for cost, the project has a $750 million price tag. According to a 2005 industry report, this would imply about 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is roughly one-third the cost of electricity from current solar cells and almost half of the cost from nuclear power. Financial models suggest the tower will pay for itself in 11 years; engineers believe the tower will have a life span of 80 years. Once it’s built, Davey’s tower can be expected to produce power with virtually no maintenance. Better yet, it requires no "feed stock" — nothing but air and sunlight spin the turbines...Instead, hot air rushes out of the huge, towering mouth of Davey's creation — enough hot air, in fact, to turn a massive turbin...

Energy and Capital: World Energy Demand

图片
Political debate continues to swirl around various types of energy technologies. The dollar ship continues to sink while the Fed adds holes to the hull. Public debt in Europe and the EU continues to mount, putting pressure on both pension funds and traditional safe havens like bonds. The middle class continues to erode. Staying above water can be difficult enough in this environment, let alone trying to turn a respectable profit... I talk to and know a lot of people in that very situation. Some of them are bogged down by circumstances outside their control, but most simply don't know how to manage money or make a winning investment. Even worse, they don't know how policy, politics, and world markets affect them, their livelihoods, and their investments. The first step to financial freedom is knowing what's going on around you at any given time. Right now, we're dealing with high prices for goods because of currency issues and inflation. Understanding what that mean...
