The spirit of entrepreneurship lives on
When entrepreneurship meets the capital markets, it creates interesting opportunities for investors.
COMMENT by Tony Pereira (a chartered accountant and the CFO of a private venture fund)
JUNE 30, 2011 - Four companies launched their IPO prospectuses that day.
Bumi Armada's RM2.7 billion IPO (which involves Ananda Krishnan).
PeterLabs (animal feed maker) is looking to raise RM4.5 million to repay existing bank loans.
Catcha Media aiming to raise RM17 million on the ACE market.
Hibiscus Petroleum looking to raise between RM150 million and RM300 million to invest in oil and gas assets.
Catcha and Hibiscus represent two interesting propositions for investors. One was a shining star that almost went into oblivion. Applying entrepreneurship skills that first made them successful, they regrouped and have come back stronger. Hibiscus is the new kid on the block. It is using the capital market to acquire value.
